Or rather, for DDMB cause I havent blogged forever and I am sure she will be teh first to point that out. (HAHA first, only).
Just got home from making sandwiches for 2.5 hours. Going to bed in a minute.
Busy week what with the battling DEATH and all.
What? you ask… death?
Well for those of you who dont know (Though who am I kidding, I know ddmb is the only one reading) my 6 month old Husky mix, Rocky, was ill this week. Puking ALL WEEK ill. Thursday he stopped drinking water even. Friday I took himto a vet who did a butt swab and pronounced him dying of Parvo. He needed treatment NOW (700$ treatment btw) or he would die a horrible death. I freaked out and started thinking who would lend us the money. The vet offered to keep him at the office while I figured it out then I could callto tell her to treat him etc. Because he is in essence my babbbbyyyyyyy I kept him with me PRAYING he wouldnt die over the weekend.
HE GOT BETTER. 100%. Dogs with Parvo DONT get better.
I brought him back today to the vet and she said his immune system must have fought off the virus. Hes healthy as a horse and immune now. Just need to keep him away from unvaccinated puppies for the next few weeks.
YAY. The vet looked it up and statistically 100% of dogs with Parvo that dont get the treatment die. Tke that Parvo.
Pets, A brief history:
1) Fanny – my apartment got fleas from a stray cat hanging in the hallway, she got fleas, I couldnt get rid of them. Gave her away and she got away from the new “owners” on the way to her new home.
2) Isabelle – Shaken by our dog at the time as a kitten. She survived with brain damage, vet gave her 50/50 chance but she would be blind for life. Well, after a few days of my feeding, watering and exercising she mercifully died.
3) Seamus – snuck upstairs and shook kitten to death when I was 7 months preg with Donavan. I couldnt have him in the house with a helpless baby being born soon so I took him to the animal shelter where he was adopted out to a family with no cats.
4) Peepers – Puked herself 99.9% to death in a week. She had to be put down (the tests would have been way expensive to even figure out what was wrong).
5)Valentine – Isabelle’s twin brother. He was very high strung. When we moved to the trailer he escaped from the bathroom and according to Kev got hit by a car.
6) Elphaba – Once Val was gone (Val was a treasured pet…) I figured it was time to stop ignoring the rules of NO PETS at the trailer. Henri’s brother in law wanted a loving pet he could pamper and Faba was perfect. Shes happily living in luxury now. (As a side note, Faba had a stroke and some subsequent sezuresĀ as a small kitten from teh fleas and worms and malnutricion she was suffering when we took her in. We really didnt think she would make it nd considered her dead right up until she wasnt…)
